Other Community Services

Unloading the van Other community services we are involved in include delivering food to handicapped clients, participating in local walk-a-thons for charity, and assisting in environmental projects. We also sponsor a drug-free environment. Many organizations are aware of our volunteer services and do not hesitate to call when there is a need.

Drug Free Environment

The consequences of substance abuse are enormous in terms of loss of life, loss of human resources. The war on drugs is lost in the cities because the environment fosters substance abuse. SAF offers the abuser of drugs and alcohol a drug free environment, as well as guidance by experienced and qualified counselors. Since the program began, thousands of people have been able to realize how to "Just Say No" to drugs.

A drug free environment and training on staying drug free not only benefits the victims, but it reduces the financial burdens of the taxpayer.

Environmental Projects

With the growing and necessary concern over the condition of the environment today, SAF is proud to support organizations through volunteer efforts concerned with the preserving of the this earth and its creatures. Specifically, we support organizations concerned with the saving, preservation, and protection of animals and endangered species, as well as groups who stand up against cruelty and inhumane treatment of animals, such as PETA. We also support local conservation efforts, recycling programs, reforestation and preservation of land, and organic local produce farming.

In 1999, SAF was proud to aid in the efforts of saving Whitehall Farm, an area in Yellow Springs, Ohio that was destined to become a crowded housing development. Due to donations and many efforts from many concerned groups in addition to SAF, the land is now being set aside as a conservation area. Janet Ward of Tecumseh Land Trust of Yellow Springs thanked SAF for their efforts:

"Thanks to Serving America First and hundreds of other contributors, Whitehall Farm has been purchased by a local conservation-minded couple and conservation easements will be placed on it for permanent protection.

Preservation of this working farm was an enormous undertaking that one columnist described as 'Herculean'. It could not have happened without you."
